Bellevue Heights Nursery School Murals

Here are some of the murals I've painted at Bellevue Heights Nursery School. I tried to imitate Eric Carle's wonderful layering of colors in a hungry caterpillar reading corner.

These painted frames are put in the writing corner (hence the criss-crossing pencils). Poster's devoted to the "child of the week" are hung within the frames - showing off drawings and pictures of the lucky student!

The sunflowers are painted by the front door. I painted inches climbing up one stalk so that the teachers can measure students' heights easily.

I painted a fun tree, full of birds and squirrels in the "Quiet Room". The grassy meadow makes a good disguise for ugly radiators.

Here's a fun African savanna themed mural, painted in a little boy's bedroom. I had quite an interesting time filling in the funky shaped corner. The end result was really fantastic, since the tree seems to lean over the child as he lays in bed.

Baby Mice Camping

Here is a sweet little mural of three mice camping, painted in the room of a newly born girl. It is based on Katherine Holabird's Angelina Ballerina book series. The baby's two older brother's played art directors while I painted this image of their sister - requesting specific colors and drawing sketches with me.
